Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
So I've been quiet, I know this. I have actually been busy, with my own things which is kind of wonderful. I think I got so wrapped up in my sister's wedding that I forgot that I had a life of my own to be living. Fancy that, huh?

I could do a stream of consciousness right now, but that would just come out a little too telling for me to out in front of all of you, so instead I'll pick very few topics.
My dog Harley has grown about fifty pounds over the last month. That's an exaggeration, but he's massive now. And he still thinks that he's a lap-dog puppy ... not so much. I have bruises all over myself of him clawing his way to make himself comfortable while he stands on my spleen.
Swine Flu. The hype seems to be over, and I seem to be pig-disease free. I know you were all worried with my absence.
The retreat. I'm excited to actually be more involved this year. I knew all of three of my co-workers last time around, I think, so now I've been around for a year. Holy crap, a year. I must really like it here. I started last April, but that first month was such a blur, now I can actually sit back and realize what a year it's been. I don't know, I think I'll be sticking around, imagine that.

You guys here at Spent have all been ... oddly well behaved. I surely hope you aren't all just planning on staging a coup or something equally bad to test just how well I can do my job and keep my hair from falling out.

If your hair does fall out, we'll find you a good wig.

Knowing you, it will be a red one.

It will be a short red one. Like Sydney Bristow wore when she blew up that car to the Limp Bizkit song. I wish Jennifer Garner was still on TV.

Congratulations on your one-year anniversary with the company. I hit the one-year mark in April, too. It's scary how fast time seems to go by.

Thank you! Look at us, huh? It really does.

I've always been interested- as a crisis management coordinator, would you rather have a crisis happen so that you can perform the tasks you're trained for, or would you rather everything be smooth-sailing? Just curious.

That's a really good question. I've been Spent's Crisis Manager for only a few months, but my entire career before that was just with the PR Coordinator before that. I think in an ideal world, I'm not hoping for conflict, I mean who does, really? But I'm always up for the challenge of it. I like to think I'm a pretty level-headed person when it really comes down to it, so actual having to deal with problems doesn't terrify me. You guys would all be screwed if that was the case, haha. But I really think it comes down to "hope for the best, prepare for the worst".
Wow I got a little long-winded there, didn't I?

Oh no, it's totally fine, I'm intrigued! Do you think Spent is ready for a crisis? Like, on a scale of, say, advertisers pulling out, to accusations of plagiarism, and then to the Enron-scale kind of crisis?

...You aren't planning anything, are you? Or have any insider information? I say we're pretty well prepared, but I guess we'll know if that ever happens. Which it won't!

I'm sure the retreat will bring on any number of crises - depending on if the newer employees behave. Last year's wasn't a trainwreck.

Yeah I didn't remember last year being awful! Hopefully people will behave themselves ... well, for the most part anyway!

It really wasn't awful. In fact, it was much better than I thought it would be. It was just after that a giant mess.
